O Stellarium apesar de estar nos repositórios de todas as distribuições, ainda está na versão antiga. Mas seus desenvolvedores o distribuem empacotado em .appimage.

Faça o download do Stellarium 1.0 com o comando no terminal.

Torne o arquivo executável.

chmod +x stellarium-1.0-x86_64.AppImage

Execute.

./stellarium-1.0-x86_64.AppImage
