Essa é atual versão intermediária em desenvolvimento do Ubuntu Linux, com lançamento marcado para 22 de Abril de 2021 e encerramento de suporte para Janeiro de 2022.

As versões intermediarias além de terem seu tempo de vida menor que as LTS, são versões de testes para a próxima LTS que no caso sera a 22.04.

Para o kernel ainda sem alterações, permanece no 5.8 mas as privisões é que seja lançado com o 5.10 LTS.

Desempenho

Esse é um ponto marcante, o Gnome tem melhorado muito e na versão 3.38 ele parece outro ambiente gráfico, principalmente em computadores modestos.

Gnome 40

Essa atualização é uma das ultimas para a chegada do Gnome 40 e que deve ser a versão padrão do Ubuntu 21.04.

O Gnome 40 é a estreia do GTK 4.0, lançado no ultimo dia 16.

Após 4 anos em desenvolvimento é anunciado em 16 de Dezembro de 2020 o GTK 4.0.

"2020 foi um ano muito longo. Que melhor maneira de terminar isso do que com um grande lançamento! Hoje, lançamos o GTK 4.0. GTK 4.0 é o resultado de muito trabalho árduo de uma pequena equipe de desenvolvedores dedicados. 

Teremos uma postagem separada para revisar as estatísticas, mas o breve resumo é que, desde o lançamento 3.89.1 em novembro de 2016, adicionamos mais de 18.000 commits e fizemos mais de 20 lançamentos de desenvolvimento.
